Perdue Installing Two Photovoltaic Facilities

0

Perdue, whose family of companies includes Perdue Foods and Perdue AgriBusiness, plans to install two solar PV projects at its properties. The installations are expected to comprise over 11,000 solar modules.

Perdue has entered into a 15-year agreement with Washington Gas Energy Services Inc. to purchase electricity generated by the solar panels at guaranteed prices. Standard Solar Inc. of Rockville, Md., will install the ground-mounted solar panels, covering the equivalent of approximately 10 football fields, on Perdue property.

Approximately half of the modules will be at the Perdue corporate offices in Salisbury, Md. The others will be at the company's feed mill in Bridgeville, Del. Both installations are expected to be completed by September and generate an average of 3,700 MWh of electricity each year.Â
