Q-Cells SE is planning to build what the company says will be the largest PV plant in Europe. The solar park, which will be built in Brandenburg-Briest, Germany, will have a capacity of 91 MW.
The project is being constructed on the site of the former Brandenburg-Briest military airbase, on an area of approximately 200 hectares. After acquiring the area of the former military airbase, Q-Cells obtained all approvals required for the construction of the solar park in cooperation with local officials.
The 91 MW solar park consists of three sub-projects: Neighboring solar parks Brandenburg-Briest West and Brandenburg-Briest Ost are being built on land within the municipality of the city of Brandenburg and have a total capacity of around 60 MW. A an additional 31 MW project is being built in the Briest-Havelsee district.
The three projects are expected to be completed by the end of the year, Q-Cells says. A total of approximately 383,000 Q-Cells crystalline solar modules will be installed.
