REC Solar Modules Receive New PID Certification

0

Norway-based REC says its PV modules have received an enhanced certification for potential induced degradation (PID) resistance.

The PID resistance test, certified by the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS), subjected the solar panels to test conditions that included a negative voltage of 1,000 V, ambient temperature of 60 degrees C, relative humidity of 85% and a test period of 96 hours.

The REC Peak Energy modules showed less than 2% power degradation during the test. REC's solar panels are already certified to the industry-accepted TUV Rheinland standards, in which a negative voltage of 1,000 V is applied to the panels at 25 degrees C for a period of 168 hours.
