RES has been selected to construct the Origis Energy Tanglewood Solar project, a 57.5 MW AC solar farm in Mitchell County, Ga.
Origis Energy USA developed the solar site under Georgia Power’s Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI). It will serve the utility’s customers participating in the C&I REDI program.
The contract represents the first construction partnership between Origis Energy and RES. Origis Energy will own and operate the facility.
Johan Vanhee, chief commercial officer and chief procurement officer at Origis Energy, says, “Our goal in contracting with RES is to utilize their 35 years of building energy projects to the success of this plant in Georgia. We are fully confident the RES team will deliver on our mutual goals.”
RES says it will employ approximately 200-250 laborers, operators and electricians at peak construction. The company is committed to hiring and procuring goods and services locally as much as possible and especially encourages women and veterans to apply.
The full engineering, procurement and construction contract will include NEXTracker’s solar tracker system and approximately 180,000 First Solar Series 6 modules.
