Saint-Gobain Solar has been awarded a five-year contract to supply SolarBond frame tapes to UNICOR Federal Prison Industries Inc. The tapes will be used for the framing of solar modules in two federal correctional facilities in the U.S. where UNICOR operates industry programs.
SolarBond frame tapes are used in the solar module framing process for perimeter sealing, as well as bonding of the PV laminate to the aluminium frame. Instant bonding leads to immediate module handling and increased production efficiency, according to Saint-Gobain Solar.
UNICOR is a wholly owned government corporation created by Congress in 1934 to provide voluntary job-skills training for federal inmates.
