Soitec has introduced the newest generation of its concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) systems with enhanced features and performance characteristics specifically designed for large-scale utility power plants.
The new system consists of 12 Concentrix CPV modules, each generating more than 2 kW of peak power. For the new product, Soitec has reconfigured its modules to reduce the number of parts per CPV system, making installation in the field simpler and faster. The two-axis-tracking system is suited for installation sites with high direct solar radiation.
Soitec says it has begun shipping demonstration units to project sites, and the company plans to begin volume production in the first quarter of 2012 in Freiburg, Germany, and in San Diego.
