Southern Energy Management (SEM) has completed the installation of 60 residential solar water heaters in South Carolina. In September, the company was awarded a contract by Central Electric Power Cooperative Inc. (CEPCI) to install 60 of CEPCI's 70 planned solar thermal installations under a residential pilot program.

SEM adds that it partnered with VELUX, a global manufacturer of solar water heaters, to complete all 60 residential systems in 60 days. The systems are being installed in homes served by four South Carolina cooperatives: York Electric Cooperative Inc., Pee Dee Electric Cooperative, Santee Electric Cooperative Inc. and Berkeley Electric Cooperative. Installation of the VELUX solar water heating systems began in late September and ended in November.
