Tampa Electric Introduces Solar Rebates

0

Tampa Electric says it will pay rebates to customers who install new solar water heating systems and/or new PV systems at their homes or businesses. The company will accept reservations online beginning at 8:00 a.m. on April 18.

The availability of the rebates is limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Existing systems will not qualify for the rebate.

The new solar rebate programs were submitted as part of the company's energy conservation program filing and approved by the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC). Customers who install residential solar water heating will receive rebates up to $1,000. Residential and business customers who install PV will receive rebates of $2 per watt (up to a maximum of $20,000) when PV systems are installed and interconnected to Tampa Electric's grid.

Additionally, the FPSC approved the company's PV for Schools program, which will install five 10 kW systems at schools (one school per year over five years), with an emphasis on schools that can function as emergency shelters.
