Tenesol Develops PV Energy Conversion And Storage System

0

Global solar power provider Tenesol has launched the Sun Smart+ system, which the company says is the world's first PV energy conversion and storage product. The Sun Smart+ system provides energy conversion and system management. Its functions include multidirectional energy flows, self-consumption, grid support and backup.

Following one of the largest field tests ever undertaken in Europe, the 9 million-euro project has now delivered a working system that can be mass-produced, the company says. The product can be retrofitted to residential and small commercial systems, accommodating PV energy production of up to 5 kW for more than 20 years.

The system uses lithium-ion batteries rated from 8 kWh to 13 kWh with a nominal voltage of 190 V to 290 V. According to Tenesol, the storage system could save operators up to 9.5 euro-cents for each kilowatt-hour of solar energy they consume instead of feeding into the grid.

The company has not yet named an availability date for the product.
