The University of New Haven, located in West Haven, Conn., and North Carolina State University, located in Raleigh, N.C., are currently developing labs to test and certify solar thermal products.
BusinessWeek reports that North Carolina State University's lab is scheduled to open later this year. The lab at the University of New Haven is targeted for completion in 2012. Currently, only five labs in the U.S. are accredited to test solar thermal equipment.
