Unirac Inc. says the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has given the company a patent covering its system for mounting a photovoltaic module to a surface, extending the number of patents in the SolarMount design family to four.

The patent centers on an apparatus and method for adjustably mounting one or more PV modules on an object, such as a roof or pole (and being able to remove them), and includes one or more track rails. Unirac also holds European, Canadian and Australian patents for SolarMount technology.

According to the company, this new patent provides numerous advantages in connection with mounting, attaching, adjusting the configuration of one or more modules, and removing one or more modules from a surface in a safe and reliable – yet rapid – manner.
