U.S. Ex-Im Bank Provides Loans To First Solar, Abound Solar For Exports To India


The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) has announced that it is providing a $16 million long-term loan to First Solar Inc. and a $9.2 million long-term loan to Abound Solar Inc.

The loan to First Solar will support exports to Azure Power Rajasthan Pvt. Ltd. in New Delhi. First Solar will export thin-film modules to Azure Power for the construction of a 5 MW solar project in the state of Rajasthan, India. Additional U.S. suppliers include SMA Solar Technology in Rocklin, Calif., and General Cable Corp. in Highland Heights, Ky.

Abound Solar's exports of thin-film PV modules will be used in the construction of a 5 MW solar project located on a 62.5-acre site near the village of Bap, about 145 kilometers from the city of Jodhpur in the state of Rajasthan.

Both projects are among the first to be developed under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, which aims to develop over 20,000 MW of installed solar power by 2022.
