Walmart has inaugurated a new PV array at its College Avenue store in San Diego – marking the company's 100th California store to host a solar array.

Walmart says its investment in solar power typically generates an average of 48 contract positions per site. Through its work with SolarCity, the company's focus on solar power has generated more than 3,000 contract construction jobs in California. SolarCity will install, manage and maintain 70 of the 100 new Walmart solar power systems.

Combined, the arrays will generate up to 70 GWh of energy annually, Walmart adds. The company's solar pilot program was launched in 2007.
