Western Wind Signs 30 MW Solar PPA In Puerto Rico

Western Wind Energy Corp. has signed a 30 MW solar photovoltaic power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority for a term of 20 years.

Western Wind also executed a 40-year land lease with the Puerto Rico Land Authority for a 401-acre parcel located within the municipality of Yabucoa in Puerto Rico. Most of the environmental approvals are essentially complete and Western Wind says it is in the final permitting, tax structuring and project finance negotiation stages.

The company anticipates that construction on the Yabacoa project will begin before the end of the year.
