Nextronex Shows Web
Solar Performance Tracker
Ohio-based Nextronex Inc. has produced a new interactive Web interface for solar field performance tracking. The company says the program allows customers to access their data over the Internet.
In addition to its technical functionality, Nextronex says the interface was developed to show results in terms an electric consumer would appreciate, such as numbers of light bulbs and other more familiar measurements. Thus, it can be customized to show streaming data to the consumer.

Spacial Edge Releases
Solar Site Mapping Tool
Virginia-based Spatial Edge is launching the National Solar Viewer, its new solar site development application. The Web-based mapping system enables users to access a variety of datasets and imagery over an Internet connection through a secure login.
The system incorporates information from industry sources and the company’s proprietary analysis. Users can overlay and toggle several datasets on and off within the same map. Spacial Edge says the datasets are updated regularly.

iSolar Offers Private
Exchange Networks
The iSolar Exchange has launched its online marketplace for connecting supply, manufacture and delivery channels for solar and renewable energy products and services.
The iSolar Exchange offers private sales exchange networks for both forward and reverse auctions and competitive sealed bids. Buyers or sellers can create their own private sales exchange networks and conduct business outside of public view.
Manufacturers; engineering, procurement and construction firms; and solar project developers using private sales exchange reverse auctions may invite prequalified solar manufacturers and contractors to bid on projects - all in private, using real-time competitive bidding between sellers. Buyers also have the choice to use the more traditional competitive sealed bids.

Solmetric Debuts PV
Analysis Tool
Solmetric Corp. has introduced its PVA-1000S product: the newest offering in its line of PV Analyzer I-V curve tracers.
The PVA-1000S, which is used in solar power system commissioning, auditing, operations and maintenance, and troubleshooting, is designed to measure module strings up to 1,000 V. This PV Analyzer I-V unit, combined with the new SolSensor wireless PV reference sensor, helps improve accuracy to ±0.5% and offers a wireless sensor range of up to 300 feet.
Solmetric says the high-throughput PV Analyzer can commission 1 MW in less than two hours - even in hot environments. New features of the product include a temperature and incident-angle corrected irradiance sensor, which delivers accurate readings in lower-light conditions.

Locus Energy Unveils
Solar Monitoring Meters
Locus Energy has unveiled the LGate 120 and 320 smart meters designed to allow solar installers and asset managers to more easily collect, monitor and analyze performance data from both residential and light commercial solar photovoltaic systems. The new systems work with Locus Energy’s Web-based SolarOS monitoring platform to gather data for troubleshooting, asset optimization and performance guarantee/billing functions.
The LGate 120 and 320 both have an ANSI C12.20 class 20 revenue-grade power meter (form 2S single-phase for the 120, and form 16S polyphase for the 320) with an integrated 3G GSM cellular modem and Ethernet connectivity. The systems collect data sets of kWh, kW, amperage, voltage, power factor and frequency in five-minute increments. Both include options for an embedded Zigbee radio.
The LGate 120 and 320 will be available early in the fourth quarter of this year.

Soitec Making 31.8%
Efficiency Solar Module
Soitec says its latest concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) module with a claimed power-generating efficiency of 31.8% is in volume production.
The company says its CX-M500 module uses an anti-reflective coating to achieve 2,450 W of nominal peak power output as compared with 2,335 W for its previous generation module. The new module has been certified according to the International Electrotechnical Commission’s and Underwriters Laboratories’ standards for both the U.S. and European markets.
Soitec’s CPV module comprises a Fresnel lens plate and a bottom plate on which solar cells are mounted. The company says Fresnel lenses focus sunlight concentrated by a factor of 500 on the solar cells beneath.

China Sunergy Reports
20.26% Cell Efficiency
China Sunergy Co. Ltd. says its new monocrystalline solar cells have reached 20.26% conversion efficiency in the pilot research and development line. The company says the cell design incorporates its Waratah and QSAR cell technologies in a new structure that enables it to achieve high conversion efficiency using normal wafers.
The new conversion efficiency record of 20.26% was confirmed by Fraunhofer ISE. In July, China’s state council for photovoltaic industries set a target of 20% efficiency for production of monocrystalline cells. China Sunergy says it plans to start commercial production of its high-efficiency cells by the end of this year.
