MiaSolé Positions Its FLEX-02 Modules For Geo-Membrane Solar Landfill Covers

MiaSolé says its FLEX-02 thin-film modules are suitable for solar power generation projects on exposed geo-membrane landfill covers.

The flexible solar modules can be bonded directly to the geo-membrane cover. The company says this capability is particularly useful in situations in which conventional solar arrays cannot be installed due to slope and live-load limitations.

FLEX-02 modules weigh less than 0.7 pounds per square foot and do not require racking. They are installed directly onto the membrane with peel-and-stick application. The FLEX-02 Series module is IEC 61646, IEC 61730 and UL 1703 certified.

 

Soltec Begins Making Tracker Controllers In Brazil

Spain-based Soltec Renewable Energies has begun manufacturing its SF Utility controller for single-axis trackers in Bahia, Brazil.

Soltec opened the Brazil factory last September, with an initial annual production capacity of 600 MW. The factory will manufacture single-axis trackers to supply projects in the South American market and take advantage of local manufacturing regulatory incentives.

The manufacturing operation complies with Brazilian Development Bank requirements and will facilitate local bank credit access for solar developers and engineering, procurement and construction firms.

“Soltec Brazil is ready to initiate and execute projects in Brazil with our tracker controller that meets all requirements of the Brazilian Development Bank for PV plant financing,” says Carlos Garcia Mena, director of Soltec in Brazil.

 

Solar FlexRack Releases Updated TDP Tracker

Youngstown, Ohio-based Solar FlexRack, a division of Northern States Metals, has released a new version of its TDP single-axis tracker.

The company says the new TDP system features updated tracking technology bundled with a services and support package for commercial and utility-scale solar customers.

The package includes the following:

• Sizing and layout;
• In-house geologist and geotechnical engineers;
• Pull testing;
• Structural analysis and foundation design;
• Project management;
• Post driving, tracker installation and panel mounting;
• Commissioning; and
• Full-service support.

 

GameChange Readies Roll-Forming Lines In Detroit

GameChange Racking says three additional roll-forming lines are being brought online to begin production in February in Detroit. These lines will have an annual manufacturing capacity of 600 MW for panel mounting rails for utility-scale, thin-film projects and Grid-Lite roof systems - plus a 500 MW annual capacity for pile manufacturing for all GameChange mono-post ground systems.

The lines will increase GameChange’s total capacity to over 2 GW.

GreenPowerMonitor Introduces Capacitor Control Functions For PV Plants

Spain-based GreenPowerMonitor (GPM) has added new functionality to its Power Plant Controller (PPC) system.

The PPC now enables operators to control the capacitor banks of a photovoltaic plant to meet the requirements imposed by the electric utility at all times. The capability joins the existing controls: active power, frequency control, reactive power, power factor and voltage control.

Capacitor banks are used to provide reactive power to give support to the grid or compensate for the internal reactive power added by the plant. GPM says the new control capability also allows the inverters to be more focused on active power requirements because the largest volume of reactive power required can be provided by the capacitor banks.

 

Zeversolar Extends Its Zeverlution String Inverter Series

China-based Zeversolar has extended its Zeverlution string inverter family with three new products.

The new Zeverlution 3680, 4000 and 5000 models have power ratings of 3.68 kW, 4 kW and 5 kW, respectively. The inverters will be available in the U.K., Thailand, Taiwan and China in January. The company expects to extend their distribution to other countries thereafter.

According to Zeversolar, the new models are intended to address the market for larger residential installations. The systems feature two maximum power point tracking channels and work in a wider range - 100 V to 520 V - than previous models. There is no derating of the inverters at high altitudes, the company says.

Zeverlution string inverters have an IP65-rated casing for outdoor use, Sunclix connectors for tool-less DC wiring, and integrated Ethernet and wi-fi communication. The systems operate at less than 25 decibels.
