Gloucester Marine Terminal officials and Riverside Renewable Energy LLC have received a formal award for a $11 million federal tax rebate related to the 9 MW rooftop PV array at the terminal.
The 1.1 million square-foot installation – which sits atop two warehouses at Gloucester Marine Terminal in Gloucester City, N.J. – is the largest of its kind in North America, according to the developers. It features 27,526 PV panels and generates electricity equivalent to 60% to 80% of the terminal's daily power consumption.
Construction began in June 2011 and was completed on budget and ahead of schedule in October 2011.
