First Solar Inc. has started construction of a 1.4 MW solar project in Kitakyushu-shi, Japan. The plant, which will use First Solar's CdTe thin-film PV modules, is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2014.
First Solar holds 100% equity in the project. Obayashi Corp. and Yaskawa Electric Corp. are providing construction services. Nippon Sheet Glass Co. Ltd. is supplying the glass sheets for the modules.
