France's government has introduced a new plan intended to bolster the country's solar sector, which has taken a hit in recent months.
According to a Reuters report, Energy Minister Delphine Batho has doubled France's PV capacity target and boosted financial support – in the form of a 10% feed-in-tariff bonus – to small PV projects using modules manufactured in Europe.
The plan, which will take effect when a decree is published later this year, is expected to spark more than $2.6 billion in investment.
France's PV industry has reportedly lost approximately 15,000 jobs over the past two years. Batho and other politicians blame the government's inconsistent solar policies.
