IKEA Inaugurates 1.46 MW Solar Array In Ga.

Home furnishings retailer IKEA has continued its nationwide solar rollout with its latest project, a 1.46 MW array on the roof of its distribution center near Savannah, Ga.

According to the company, this is the state's largest private solar rooftop project. The 182,300 square-foot array was built with 6,076 panels and is expected to produce approximately 1,973,562 kWh of electricity annually.

Gehrlicher Solar America Corp., part of Gehrlicher AG, provided design and installation services. This installation represents the 34th completed solar project for IKEA in the U.S., with five more locations underway.
