Home furnishings retailer IKEA has inaugurated a 940.8 kW PV array at its New Haven, Conn., location. According to the company, this is Connecticut's largest PV array.
The 118,000 square-foot installation was built with 3,920 panels and is expected to produce 1,099,800 kWh of electricity annually. It represents the 32nd completed solar project for IKEA in the U.S. As with IKEA's other solar projects, the company owns and operates the New Haven array.
For the development, design and installation of the New Haven store's customized solar power system, IKEA contracted with Gehrlicher Solar America Corp., part of Gehrlicher AG.
