IPVEA Speaks Out Against Solar Trade Tariffs In Europe

The International Photovoltaic Equipment Association (IPVEA) has come out against the recent filing of a trade complaint by a group of European PV manufacturers against China.

IPVEA says that because the organization favors an international ‘free-market PV economy,’ it opposes the imposition of any punitive tariffs.

‘It is essential for the PV industry to foster a globally independent and competitive PV industry, [rather] than to support measures that complicate the access to any of its core markets,’ says Bryan Ekus, managing director of IPVEA.

IPVEA adds that it is interested in collaborating with other associations to make a joint industry statement. The organization invites its other industry counterparts to discuss the issue at the upcoming 27th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition, which is scheduled to take place next month in Germany.
