Marubeni To Build 81.5 MW Solar Plant In Japan

0

Japan-based Marubeni Corp. plans to create a new special-purpose company in order to construct an 81.5 MW PV plant at a 105,000 square-meter coastal industrial area – Oita No.6 – owned by its subsidiary Marubeni Ennex Corp. and others.

The company will start plant construction in November, with project commissioning scheduled for March 2014. The expected annual power generation will be 87 million kWh, according to Marubeni.

The electricity generated will be sold to Kyushu Electric Power Co. Inc. over 20 years. The project is expected to provide valuable information for future large-scale solar initiatives through the collection of data on plant operation, maintenance and land usage.

The Oita plant is part of a larger initiative: In all, Marubeni plans to hold 531.5 MW of power generation plants from renewable energy sources in seven countries.
