SkyPower Installing Solar Project On First Nations Land

SkyPower Ltd. says it has signed an agreement with Fort Williams First Nation for the development of a 10 MW solar installation located in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The project covers approximately 100 acres on Fort William First Nation land in Thunder Bay and will comprise approximately 45,000 solar panels.

Preliminary construction on the project began early this year, and SkyPower is currently ramping up construction activities on the solar park. The company expects to complete construction this summer and anticipates that the project will contribute significantly to local investment and create direct and indirect economic benefits for the local region.

When completed this summer, the solar park is expected to be Canada's first large-scale solar project to be developed on First Nations land.
