Solectria Supplies Inverters To Alamosa Solar Project

0

Solectria Renewables LLC, a photovoltaic inverter manufacturer, has provided its utility-scale inverters for the 30 MW Alamosa concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) project, which recently began operating in Alamosa, Colo.

The site is interconnected at the 115 kV transmission level and uses a PV plant controller that allows the operator to choose between a variety of smart grid operating modes, Solectria says. The plant can provide large amounts of reactive power, closed loop power factor control, as well as AC voltage regulation. Moreover, the controller can throttle the site's solar energy output to help regulate the grid frequency, when needed.

The project was developed by Cogentrix Energy.
