The Spanish government has suspended subsidies for new renewable energy projects in an attempt to cut the nation's budget deficit, Bloomberg reports.

The new law will put an end to subsidies for new wind, solar, co-generation and waste-incineration plants, Spain's industry minister told Bloomberg.

Existing renewable energy projects that have already been approved to receive subsidies will not be affected by the new decree.
