Canadian Solar Inc. says its wholly owned subsidiary, Canadian Solar Solutions Inc., has completed its 100 MW utility-scale Grand Renewable Solar Project, located in the Ontario county of Haldimand.
Featuring approximately 445,000 CS6X MaxPower high-performance modules, this project is now the largest operational solar farm in Canada.
The new facility is jointly owned by Samsung Renewable Energy Inc.; Conner, Clark & Lunn Infrastructure; and Six Nations of the Grand River. Canadian Solar provided the engineering, procurement and construction services.
According to the company, the Grand Renewable Solar Project is expected to produce 170,000 MWh of electricity per year. What's more, the energy produced will power roughly 17,000 homes and displace 162,000 metric tons of carbon-dioxide emissions over the 20-year period of the power purchase agreement with the Independent Electricity System Operator.
