The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System (Ivanpah SEGS) has reached the halfway mark of construction, according to project partners NRG Energy, Google, BrightSource Energy and Bechtel.
The 370 MW concentrating solar power (CSP) plant is being built in Ivanpah, Calif. Construction workforce has now reached its peak, with more than 2,100 construction workers and project support staff on-site, BrightSource adds.
The $2.2 billion Ivanpah SEGS project is on track to be complete in 2013. Construction commenced in October 2010.
