Mage Sunovation GmbH, a manufacturer of solar modules for architectural use, has developed an LED solar power facade composed of glass-glass modules.
According to the company, solar panels are increasingly becoming popular for use in designing facades. The modules can be used as building elements in the same way as glass, stone, plaster or other materials.
Mage's glass-glass modules measure 1.2 m x 1.2 m and feature a frosted rear glass and a transparent front glass pane. They are backlit by LEDs and include 49 five-inch crystalline solar cells embedded between the glass pane. The facade can be brightly illuminated by night, creating a visually attractive effect at a distance, the company says.
