SPG Solar has concluded the three-month GoSolarMarin Community Discount Program, which reached an all-time record number of kilowatts sold/installed and homes that have gone solar. More than 100 new solar photovoltaic systems were purchased as a result of SPG Solar's efforts in Marin County, Calif. The systems, when installations are complete, will represent a total of more than 450 kW of solar power.
The program was based on a special pricing plan conceived by a group of interested homeowners and organized by Lisa Max, who formed GoSolarMarin. The GoSolarMarin group rate was a result of a competitive request for proposals process, bringing the price of solar power in Marin County down to $7.94 per watt from its previous pricing of $9.32. This resulted in a savings of more than $4,000 for the average 3 kW installation.
