Owens Corning, a global producer of building material, has selected Constellation to develop a 2.6 MW solar generation project at its thermal and acoustical insulation plant in Delmar, N.Y.
Constellation will finance, build, own and maintain the system, which will include approximately 9,000 ground-mounted PV panels located on more than nine acres. Owens Corning will buy the project's output under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
Scheduled for completion later this year, the solar system is designed to supply more than 6% of the plant's annual electricity needs and will support Owens Corning's 2020 Environmental Footprint Goals for energy use and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
