REC has sold four solar power installations with a total capacity of 7.87 MW it developed on Sardinia to IKAV Global Energy S.a.r.l., part of a Luxembourg-based investment fund.
The four ground-mounted PV facilities include a 4.986 MW plant in Villacidro, a 996 kW plant in Pischedda, a 902 kW plant in Ulmos and a 990 kW plant in Lula. The grid-connected facilities required approximately 31,000 REC solar panels and have an expected generating capacity of 12.5 MWh annually.
"Italy has reached the end of the feed-in tariff era for solar power, and we expect the market will be driven by the new tax credit scheme, which will then be attractive for smaller system sizes up to 200 kW," says REC Systems Managing Director Matthias Ermer.
REC says it expects Italy to remain a viable location long-term for solar installations, even if the investment climate becomes tighter following the expiration of the Conto Energia 5 feed-in tariff.
