Georgia-based Suniva Inc. is supplying its photovoltaic panels to power a 297 kW solar parking canopy at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, Md.
The solar canopy covers a six-story parking deck for the Wounded Warrior Lodge, an extended-stay treatment and rehabilitation facility for wounded service members. SolBright Renewable Energy installed the array for contractor dck worldwide LLC and financier Ttec. The energy yielded from the array will be used to help offset the power used at the medical center.
‘The canopy solar system was designed to leverage existing real estate at the WRNMMC,’ says Patrick Hassell, managing director of SolBright Renewable Energy. ‘Using Suniva's high-powered panels enabled us to get the maximum power in the space provided.’
