France-based Exosun and Soitec have jointly developed a new concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) system.
The Exotrack CPV system consists of Exosun dual-axis tracker units, each supporting 18 to 24 Soitec CX S540 modules. Exosun says the integrated systems are capable of producing up to 61.2 kW per unit while keeping the deployed profile below 15 feet high. On the generation side, the Soitec CPV system uses Fresnel lenses to concentrate sunlight 500 times before it reaches the triple-junction cells.
The new systems have been selected for a number of projects under France's second tender for solar power plants over 250 kW that the Commission de Regulation de l'Energie issued in March 2013.
