Bedford, Mass.-based Spire Corp. has received a contract from a China-based thin-film photovoltaic module manufacturer for the delivery of a Spi-Sun Simulator 6013i SLP solar simulator.
The custom unit will have a test area of 6 meters by 1.3 meters, allowing the manufacturer to accurately characterize the performance of its large-area thin-film modules. The design will also include an automation system that will allow the manufacturer to connect and transfer its long modules into the test area, where a dark I-V and full light I-V curve are measured.
Spire says the custom Spi-Sun Simulator 6013i SLP technology and design are based on its existing solar simulator products, which are widely used globally in test labs and manufacturing facilities.
