China-based JA Solar Holdings Co. Ltd. has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with India-based Essel Infraprojects Ltd. to establish a solar cell and module manufacturing facility joint venture.
The MOU specifies a 500 MW production capacity for the joint venture and outlines the duties of each party.
The agreement was reached on May 16 at the India-China Business Forum held in Shanghai, China, where Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese national leaders, and commercial and industrial representatives of both countries were in attendance.
