Irish firm Surface Power is planning the launch of what it claims is the world's most efficient solar thermal collector. The technology, which has undergone six years of development and testing, has been independently certified by TUV Rhineland.
Surface Power says TUV Rhineland tests have shown that the new solar thermal collector, when compared to other leading products, is up to 131% more efficient in the morning and evening and 76% more efficient at midday. The company adds that the product has the potential to reduce domestic and commercial hot water bills by up to 70%.
‘Our solar panel has been compared to 52 other collectors that hold the prestigious Solar Keymark certification, and the results of the comparative testing are excellent,’ says John Quinn, founder of Surface Power. ‘It's great to see the end of a product development cycle and a huge spike in inquiries from the renovation markets in Europe and the U.S.’
Surface Power says its solar collector is specifically designed for the retrofit market, but is also suitable for new construction.
