Clear Skies Solar Inc. has finished the installation a solar energy system for McGowan Builders, a full-service general contracting and construction management firm, at the company's newly renovated 37,000 square-foot headquarters in East Rutherford, N.J.
For this project, Clear Skies Solar installed a 123.9 kW direct current solar photovoltaic system designed to offset current energy usage charges incurred by the majority of McGowan's building. Through a reduction in energy cost, government incentives and the New Jersey Clean Energy Program's Solar Renewable Energy Credit Pilot Program, McGowan Builders is expected to recoup its initial investment in approximately six and a half years.
The system includes 708 Suntech 175 W panels that will offset the electricity usage of approximately 16 average-sized New Jersey homes, Clear Skies Solar says.
