Nanosolar Selects Manufacturing Sites

Nanosolar Inc., a Palo Alto, Calif.-headquartered developer of solar cell technology, has selected two new manufacturing sites – one in San Jose, Calif., and the other in Germany.

With these two buildings, Nanosolar now has the capability to utilize up to 647,000 square feet for its cell and panel manufacturing. The company will also have the ability to further research and develop low-cost solar cells using its nanoparticle ink and roll-printing technology.

According to Nanosolar, San Jose's mayor, the city's economic development team and PG&E played a key role in keeping Nanosolar in the state of California and attracting it to San Jose. The company will utilize a former Cisco manufacturing facility for the site, which is expected to be in commercial production during 2007.
