Itasca, Ill.-headquartered NEC Display Solutions of America, a provider of flat panel desktop monitors, has introduced a solar-powered system that can be used with its monitors.
The system is designed to produce approximately 293 kWh of electricity per year. By running a display monitor off solar power, users will decrease their standard electricity costs, the company says. Included in the package are solar panels and batteries, a digital charge controller, an inverter and the necessary wires.
‘With the batteries' having a life expectancy of over 20 years, depending on the number of cycle times, and a panel life of 50 or more years, the investment return is considerable,’ says Richard Atanus, NEC Display Solutions' vice president of engineering, technical and environmental services.
The system was developed in conjunction with British Columbia-headquartered Carmanah Technologies Corp., a manufacturer of energy-efficient technology. For more information on the system, call (866) 632-6673.
