Aliso Viejo, Calif.-headquartered XsunX Inc., a developer of thin film photovoltaic (PV) products, has entered into a technology development and licensing agreement with Charlotte, N.C.-based Sencera, a producer of plasma tools for LCD, glass and solar cell manufacturing applications.
Sencera will develop a thin film solar cell manufacturing process using its patent-pending plasma technology and funds provided by XsunX. The companies expect the new process will increase production rates for the manufacture of deposited thin film solar cells.
‘Dropping the cost for the manufacture of high-efficiency micro-crystalline devices to below $1 per peak watt will provide a competitive advantage for XsunX in the TFPV [thin film photovoltaics] marketplace,’ says Tom Djokovich, chief executive officer of XsunX.
