Turner Launches New Clean Energy Business Venture

Dome-Tech Solar, a large-scale solar energy developer based in Branchburg, N.J., has entered into a business venture with Ted Turner to create DT Solar, a renewable energy provider. Turner, who is known for such cable networks as CNN, TBS and TNT, is chairman of the United Nations Foundation and co-chairman of the Nuclear Threat Initiative.

DT Solar will initially focus on providing on-site solar electric power systems for commercial and industrial clients, as well as developing larger, utility-scale solar power plants in the southwestern U.S. The new business will build off the recent success of Dome-Tech Solar, the company says.

DT Solar plans to immediately expand into several U.S. markets, specifically California because of the state's California Solar Initiative (CSI), which will allocate $3.2 billion of solar energy rebates over the next 11 years.
