The Scottsdale, Ariz., headquarters of Henkel's North American consumer products division are now home to a rooftop solar system generating 56,700 kW of electricity per year. Excess power from the solar panels is fed into the building grid.

At the headquarters building, Henkel uses the washers and dryers in its laundry labs to develop and test new laundry products. The company says it is also in the process of installing a solar thermal water heating system that will provide hot water for the laboratories.
