Akeena Solar, based in Los Gatos, Calif., has completed a 300 kW solar power project at the Air National Guard Armory in Fresno, Calif.
According to the company, Akeena installed 566 solar panels to generate the power, which equals the usage of approximately 200 households. The installation is the largest of its kind in the Central Valley region of California, Akeena adds.
‘We like to think that we made this project easy for the military, which is exactly what we try to do for homeowners,’ says Barry Cinnamon, CEO of Akeena. ‘Our engineers design custom solutions for every project. Then we handle all of the paperwork for rebates and tax credits for homeowners. In California, incentives cover about a third of the cost, thereby encouraging homeowners to run their electric meter backwards with a solar power system."
