Cleantech America has broken ground on CalRENEW-1, California's first utility-scale photovoltaic solar project to be approved under the state's renewable portfolio standard.
The project is located in Mendota, in California's Central Valley, and will provide 5 MW of electricity to Pacific Gas & Electric Co. under a long-term power purchase agreement. The facility is scheduled to begin operations before the end of the year.
Cleantech America was recently acquired by Meridian Energy Ltd., a New Zealand-based electricity generator.
