Government-Sponsored Solar Push Down Under

0

There is a new move to entice the installation of solar technologies in Australia and New Zealand.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Australian homeowners will receive $1,000 rebates from the government that will be applied towards the cost of solar hot water systems. Australian schools will also benefit from the government's solar push, receiving $50,000 ‘green vouchers’ to help them become more sustainable in their use of water and energy.

The United Press International reports that New Zealanders are also getting government funds to go solar. Under a new program, a $3,000 grant will be available to construction companies to install a solar water heating system on a show home, while an $500 grant per home will be available for builders who install solar water heating systems on at least 20 new homes within a 12-month period.
