Soltec has developed the SOLTEC GP-1500, a new ultra-high-concentration PV (CPV) module, and plans to introduce the product at the upcoming Solar Power International conference. The release follows more than two years of research and development.
According to Soltec, the module features high efficiency, a wide acceptance angle, compact size, cost-effectiveness and high reliability. Its optical design, based on the Cassegrain reflecting telescope, uses mirrors to concentrate sunlight approximately 1,500 times over triple-junction cells of the highest efficiency.
The modules have 80% more power density than conventional modules, the company says. Soltec expects it will achieve grid parity once multi-megawatt production volumes are reached.
