Thin-film solar module manufacturer Heliosphera US has selected Philadelphia's Navy Yard as the site of its new manufacturing facility. According to Gov. Edward G. Rendell, D-Pa., this plant will create 400 jobs and leverage hundreds of millions of dollars of private investment.
Pennsylvania provided the company with a $49 million funding offer, coordinated through the governor's Action Team, consisting of a variety of grants and loans.
Heliopsphera Holding SA, an affiliate company of Heliosphera US, recently began operating its new 60 MW production facility in Peloponnesus, Greece. Production in that plant began in September.
