SMA Solar Technology AG will establish a subsidiary in the province of Ontario, Canada. The company plans to select a site during the first half of this year.
SMA solar inverters from the Sunny Boy, Sunny Central and Sunny Island product ranges will be produced for the Canadian market, the company says. The subsidiary is expected to create 100 to 200 jobs on-site in the medium term.
In addition, the SMA Group plans to increase production capacity at its sites in Germany and Denver. At the sites in Niestetal, Germany, and Kassel, Germany, annual capacity will be raised to around 10 GW by the middle of the year. Production in Denver, operating at an annual capacity of around 1 GW is expected to begin this summer.
