The Solar Alliance, an association of the leading U.S. solar electricity manufacturers, systems integrators and financiers, has appointed Sara Birmingham as director of western policy. Birmingham joins the Solar Alliance from Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E), where she most recently managed the utility's California Solar Initiative program as well as its predecessor, the Self-Generation Incentive
program. She will be based in San Francisco, home of the California Public Utilities Commission.
‘We are thrilled to have Sara join us in this critical position for the Alliance,’ says Claudine Schneider, president of the Solar Alliance. ‘Her background at PG&E will be invaluable to us in our efforts to accelerate adoption of solar not only in California but throughout the western United States. PG&E's incentive programs have resulted in the largest volume of solar installations in any region in the United States, and Sara has played a critical role in that successful effort.’
